The Human Concerns Committee discerns the needs of persons in the parish and the community, especially the poor and identifies resources to meet those needs involving the active cooperation of parish members.
How can you help?
Respect Life: Member of Catholic4LIFE maintaining a network of communication and fellowship between parishes in the Milwaukee Archdiocese. It builds awareness of prolife issues by supplying prolife material to parishioners for the purpose of education on life matters. Plans executes, and announces prolife activities such as the annual Local Life Chain in October. It supports prolife groups financially through the Baby Bottle Change Donation to Women's Care Center in Milwaukee, the Annual Church Baby Shower to Life Choices in Burlington and the Mother's Day Rose sale.
CROP Hunger Walk: In collaration with local area churches, sponsored by Church World Service, we participate by raising funds to end hunger at home and around the world. This is held once a year in October.
Food Pantry: Through a parish wide collection, this program provides non-perishable food items to the Norway Helping Hands Food Pantry on a weekly basis. Individuals are invited to brings items during offertory at weekend masses. Additionally, a "Souper Bowl" collection is taken in January and a Thanksgiving Food Drive in November.
Meal Program: This provides food and assistance to the needy in the Wind Lake/Waterford area through the St. Vincent dePaul Society. We prepare and provide a meal monthly to the needy at Love Incorporated in Burlington. Approximately 60 people are served eath time.
Fundraisers: In the Spring and Fall, Human Concerns generally sells ham or beef sandwiches, pop corn, cotton candy, pickles on a stick and candy bars at the St. Clare Street Fair. A pancake breakfast is also held in the Spring. This is a social service event as well as a fundraiser.
Human Concerns meet at 6:00 PM the 2nd Tuesday of the month except for June, July, August and December. Liaisons from the Parish Council and the Stewardship committees attend our meetings.
