Liturgical Ministries

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion- Under the overall direction of the Prayer and Worship Committee, ministers assist in the distribution of the Eucharist to the home bound and during massess. This ministry requires you to be a confirmed, Practicing Catholic. Meetings are held as needed and communication is done by email mostly. Participation requires arriving at church 15 minutes before mass to set up and 15 minutes after mass to clean the vessels. Training is done after mass or at your convience. Commitment is 2-3 Saturdays or Sundays a month depending on the amount of Saturdays and Sundays in the month. Ministers are also used for Holy Days of Obligaion. An email is sent out appriximately the 15h of the month to check availability. It is an honor to hold the body or blood of Our Lord in your hands. We welcome all.

Please contact Patti Bowen at (414)-940-3087 or wdlkrn@juno.com if you are interested in joining this ministry.

Altar Servers (Acolyte)- All male and female members of the parish from 5th grade through adults are eligible to serve as acolytes at parish liturgies. The goal is to instill in the youth of our parish a pattern of servce that will continue beyond their service as an altar server. The acolyte is instituted to serve at the altar and to asist the priest and decon. Time commitments include two training sessions for new altar servers and most serve 1-2 times per month depending on their schedules. Parents and children are encouraged to serve together.

Minister of the Word (Lector)- These ministers proclaim the Word of the Lord for various liturgies.

Time requirement is about one hour and fifteen minutes, plus practice time, 1-2 times a month. Ministry is served on Saturdays, Sundays and Holy Days. Length of committment is one year, renewable as desired. Training with Director of Lectors one hour initially, more as meeded is available.

Ministers of Hospitality (Ushers)- The ushers help in seating and assisting parishoners as needed by taking collections, securing gift bearers and being alert to any circumstances. Ministers of hospitality ensure that the faithful see and experience the love of Christ during the liturgy. They are the first people visitors and parishioners alike encounter, and as such, they should be outgoing, friendly, and welcoming. A spirit of service is crucial for this ministry. This ministry is open to any parishioners, and we encourage entire families to sign up for this ministry, serving together as an example of Christian love.

Art and Environment- This is a visual component of the Liturgical Calandar. The year begins in Advent and ends with Autumn Ordinary Time. We plan environment for Advent, Christmas, Winter Ordinary Time, Lent, Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Easter, Pentecost, Summer Ordinary Time and Autumn Ordinary Time. Aside from these major changes, we adjust the environment for the First Holy Communion, Confirmation, The Most Holy Trinity, The Most Holy Body and Blood, The Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, The Feast of St. Clare, the Mass Rememberance and in October of 2015, the Golden Jubilee of the Parish.

Change overs typially occur on Sunday after Mass unless there is Religious Education or some other commitments for the church. We are looking at Monday or Friday evenings as an alternative. During the year, there are exceptions to this schedule in which set up occurs on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Help is needed for both set up and take down for each season.

We are always looking for Helping Hands, especially individuals comfortable on ladders. Design ideas are also appreciated and can be submitted to the Art and Environment Committee. There are also volunteers needed for plant/flower watering. Distilled water is used for plants on the inside of the building. Pressing of fabrics and retagging fabrics for storage at the end of each liturgical season is always a necessity for this ministry. The core team consists of Deb Gerkhardt, Paul and Erica Glysz, Lisa Henk, Dave and Ruth Schneider, and Kyle Kaczmarek.

Please contact Ruth Schneider at (262)895-2542 or rdinaction@gmail.com if you are interested in joining this ministry.

Mass Coordinator- Our commitment is to have each Mass run smoothly with all positions of the ministry filled and be available to the priest and the parish. The time commitment is 30-40 minutes before mass, during and after to lock doors and make sure someone is responsible for that task. We are scheduled 1-2 times a month. We work together as a team with the other ministries of the mass to ensure the well being of the parish. A full outline of all activities of the mass coordinators is in the ministers room and orientation is available for new ministers.

These individuals make sure that all of the ministers are assigned and prepared for the weekend masses. All ministers check in to see if they are needed to fill in and all assigned ministers sign in that they are present. This is the "go to" person on the weekend.

Please contact Joan Dibb at (414)425-3086 or jdibb2@wi.rr.com if you are interested in joining this ministry.
