St. Clare Christian Formation
Welcome Confirmand student families! We have been working diligently to strengthen our program and create new and exciting opportunities to foster a deeper understanding and relationship with Jesus Christ. Below are St. Clare and the Milwaukee Archdiocese expectations for your son/daughter to be confirmed.
Attendance: We only meet 8 times a year where other programs meet a minimum of 16. We really pack a lot of material into the two hours and put a great deal of effort into each theological-based lesson, so you are really getting two lessons packed into one evening. We understand you are busy (we all are), and we want to make this process easier. With this in mind, Confirmands are expected to attend ALL classes on a consistent basis. This year, absences will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We will not accept "I had to work" or “I forgot” anymore. The Sacrament of Confirmation may be delayed with any unexcused absence or missing requirements. In the past, a "make-up class" has been provided for those who had a death in the family or some other grave reason for not attending. NOTE: Attending just the make-up class and not the regular class will not be accepted this year.
Service Hours: All Confirmands are required to do a minimum of 10 "St. Clare-sponsored" Service Hours. This means service hours that help to build our St. Clare Church community directly. If your student is volunteering at school events, etc...we are thrilled they are doing so, but this will not count as St. Clare service hours. If students have not completed hours from previous years, they will be added to this year!
Examples of St. Clare Service Hours include: Mission trips to the homeless shelter & Love Inc. meal, Street Fair, student aid teaching, active participation in Mass service (lector, usher, server, choir, greeter), Family Outreach Night and these are just to name a few! A few more opportunities will be provided as the year unfolds. Please hand in a signed record sheet, available in narthex and at every class.
Mass: Confirmands are expected to attend Mass and participate. We can't feel a part of something that we are not actively participating in. Parents, you set the example here -- please attend Mass with your kids! We can't expect them to complete or do the things you're not willing to be a part of yourselves. Thank you in advance to many of you who already take an active role in celebrating the Mass with your kids.
Text Reminder: For faster and more efficient communication we will be sending text messages directly to the student and copying the parents. This will be done in an effort have the students take responsibility for their confirmation requirements. Your number will not be visible to any other person in the group text and you will only get text messages sent from Trista and Maureen, not from other group members.
Safety: Adult Hall Monitors will supervise entry to and exit from the church building during class.
Choir: If your Confirmand sings or plays an instrument, we would love to have them connect with our Choir leader Kostyn. He can be reached @ 262.751.8374 (textable).
Class Mass: High School students will be assigned one Sunday Mass that they as a class will help to plan and will serve as greeters, ushers, gift bearers, choir and lectors. It is expected that each student will attend this Mass.
